I’m Hong TAO, an electromagnetic simulation engineer based in Guangzhou, China. I graduated from Guilin University of Electronic Technology in 2021, majoring in Electronic Science and Technology with a focus on EM fields and microwave techniques. Over the past five years I’ve worked at a research institute, a Chinese CAE software company, and the China platinum agency of Dassault Systèmes, on problems ranging from filter design to full-vehicle EMC, from component-level to electrically-large system-level simulation. Along the way I moved from being a software user to someone who does secondary development, automation, and AI-agent integration for simulation tools.
What I Do Now
I’m currently a Senior CST Engineer at the China platinum agency of Dassault Systèmes. My work is split between technical support and making simulation tools work harder. I’ve served more than fifty customers and resolved over forty challenging support cases, led the company’s AI-agent exploration for CST including MCP servers and knowledge-base skills, built a local knowledge base with self-hosted DeepSeek and RAG, and delivered a series of technical webinars on topics from Python automation to hybrid solvers.
Beyond the Day Job
Outside work, I’m the Guangzhou city host of OPC Community , a network of people using AI to multiply their professional capabilities; I organize a monthly offline event. I also use AI heavily myself, having codified my own workflows into reusable practices. Lately I’ve been helping organize and technically support AI hackathons. Another side project is 桂音 (KWL-Dialect) , an open-source TTS project that synthesizes Guilin dialect speech, started out of concern that the dialect is fading away.
